Getting Started

Enter a topic, paste study material, or attach a supported file/media source.
Choose a public quiz length of 5, 10, 15, or 20 questions, then set Difficulty.
Click Create Quiz to build the quiz. Start Quiz unlocks after a valid quiz is ready.

Create vs Start

Create Quiz: builds a quiz from your topic or study material.
Start Quiz: begins taking the ready quiz.
If a new build fails, the last valid quiz stays available.

Options & Quiz Editor

Options: Timer, Theme, Question Types, and Defaults.
Quiz Editor: paste, import, edit, copy, or export EZ Quiz formatted lines.
Valid pasted manual lines are parsed in the browser and unlock Start Quiz without using AI generation.
Supported types: Multiple Choice (single/multiple), True/False, Yes/No, Matching.

Defaults

Save as default stores your Count, Difficulty, and Types for next time.
Use Reset defaults to clear saved generation defaults.

Timer & Settings

Stopwatch or Countdown (mm:ss) in Settings; preferences persist locally.
Optional: Require answer to advance; Start Quiz is a separate step after Create Quiz succeeds.

Taking Quizzes

Navigation: Enter/Right = Next; Backspace/Left = Previous.
Answers: MC (A–D or 1–4), True/False (T/F), Yes/No (Y/N).

Results & Retakes

Results show score, time, and Missed/All (Missed first by default).
Retake missed only: use the caret next to Retake.
Use Explain on a result card to request an explanation for that one question.

AI Generation

Create sends only the topic or study material needed for the request, plus length, difficulty, and selected question types.
Explain sends only the selected result item needed for that explanation.
If generation or import fails, try a shorter quiz, a smaller source, Demo Set, or manual import.

FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between “Create Quiz” and “Start Quiz”?: A: Create Quiz builds a valid quiz. Start Quiz begins taking the ready quiz.
Q: Why is the Mirror empty?: A: The Mirror is an advanced view for EZ Quiz formatted lines. It stays blank until a quiz is created or manual lines are loaded.
Q: Can I edit the quiz before starting?: A: Yes. Use the Quiz Editor to change or add your own questions. Valid EZ Quiz lines are checked in the browser and can unlock Start Quiz without sending them to AI generation.
Q: What can I import?: A: EZ Quiz can import readable source material from PDF, images, TXT, Markdown, HTML, CSV, JSON, RTF, and DOCX. Very large sources may need to be shortened before creating a quiz.
Q: How many questions can I create?: A: Public quiz lengths are 5, 10, 15, and 20 questions.
Q: How do explanations work?: A: In Results, click Explain on a result card. EZ Quiz sends only that question’s context for the explanation request.
Q: What are the Retake options?: A: Retake All repeats the full quiz. The caret menu lets you retake only the questions you missed, or shuffle everything for a fresh run.
Q: How do I change settings like timer or theme?: A: Open the ⚙ Settings menu. You can adjust timer length, appearance theme, and reset to defaults at any time (except while a quiz is running).
Q: Where can I export or copy my quiz?: A: In the Quiz Editor, you can copy or export EZ Quiz formatted lines as a .txt file.
Q: What happens if the app updates mid‑quiz?: A: Nothing changes until you finish or exit. Updates only apply once you refresh or start a new quiz, so your current run is never interrupted.
Q: What should I do if a stale build sticks around?: A: Use Settings, Reset App, then reload. This clears local app caches and lets the newest production build load.
Q: How does feedback work?: A: Feedback is sent securely through a server function. Messages are sanitized, rate‑limited, and delivered to the maintainer’s inbox.

EZ Quiz runs primarily on your device. We avoid collecting personal data and keep the experience self-contained whenever possible.

What We Don’t Collect

No accounts, analytics scripts, or advertising trackers.
No storage of your quiz content on our servers.

Stored Locally

The app may store theme or timer preferences and the most recent quiz in your browser’s storage so you can pick up where you left off.

Serverless Calls

Optional AI generation and feedback submission use Netlify Functions. Requests include only the information needed to fulfil them. Third-party providers apply their own policies.

Your Choices

Use the Reset App button or ?clear=1 to clear cached data.
Skip AI generation entirely—the editor works offline.
Contact us via the feedback panel for questions or requests.
